FOR UNIONS AND EMPLOYEES

Lenow & McCarthy is a union-side labor law firm dedicated to representing unions and employees in all aspects of the field of employment law.  Our firm represents private and public sector unions throughout Massachusetts and in other New England states.  We also handle all forms of individual employment litigation from unjust terminations to negotiating individual employment contracts.

Our firm specializes in representing public sector unions in Massachusetts.  We offer clients our particular expertise in representing public sector unions and our firm’s unique capabilities in cutting edge computer technology.   We have negotiated collective bargaining agreements in over one hundred cities and towns in Massachusetts and have been involved in as many fire and police disputes and arbitrations before the Joint Labor Management Committee.   We approach the bargaining table only after completing a comprehensive wage and benefit comparability study and contract audit to develop the best strategic approach to each round of negotiations.  We have also handled hundreds of arbitrations and prohibited practice charges and are often in state and federal court to enforce these awards.

Our clients include fire, police, corrections, public works and clerical unions in cities and towns throughout Massachusetts.  We represent unions at the MBTA and other public authorities, as well as postal workers under the jurisdiction of the APWU in Massachusetts and Rhode Island.  We serve as legal counsel to the Massachusetts Elementary School Principal Association as well as the Massachusetts Secondary School Principals Association and represent many school administrator unions around the State.

In addition to our union practice, we represent individual employees in all aspects of employment law, including negotiating individual employment contracts and severance agreements, evaluating and litigating discrimination claims and handling injury on duty, disability ad retirement cases.  We regularly appear before the Massachusetts Civil Service Commission for discipline and promotional bypass appeals as well as federal agencies with jurisdiction over discipline, workers’ compensation and disability retirements.

We may not be the biggest, but we work harder and more efficiently than anyone and offer the kind of personal attention that only a small firm can provide.
