ECCOA Wins Demotion Arbitration. Arbitrator Mary Ellen Shea issued her Award, after a six day hearing, restoring Lieutenant Laura Rowe to her position as Lieutenant after the Sheriff of Essex County demoted her to correctional officer. The Union argued that Lt. Rowe had been demoted as political retaliation for her support of a rival candidate in the Sheriff's election the year before. The Union proved that the Sheriff lacked just cause for his actions. Lt. Rowe was granted back pay and restored to her former rank. Lenow & McCarthy launches a new interactive and dynamic web site.
